Abstract

Trichosirocalus spurnyi (Schultze, 1901) is reported for the first time from Bohemia (the Czech Republic). It was found in an old brickyard near Úhřetice in northeastern Bohemia on Achillea millefolium L. Several other rare weevil species are present at the same locality: Argoptochus quadrisignatus (Bach, 1856), Brachysomus villosulus (Germar, 1824) and Zacladus exiguus (Olivier, 1807). Sibinia (Dichotychius) beckeri (Desbrochers, 1873) is recorded as a new species for Slovakia. It was discovered in a salt marsh near Kamenín in the southern part of the country. Its newly discovered host plant is Limonium gmelini hungaricum (Klokov) Soó. The connection between Sibinia beckeri and Limonium gmelini hungaricum was observed in Dobrogea (Romania) for the first time.

Souhrn

The species is very rare in central Europe [Colonnelli 2004] and in the Czech Republic it is known only from Silesia in northeastern Moravia [Benedikt et al. 2010]. The species was collected by sweeping and beating of not flowering Achillea millefolium L. plants [Tab. W72. 3] in an old quarry of brick clay [Tab. W72. 2].The species will be possibly found also in other places in northeastern Bohemia.
The old quarry of brick clay near Úhřetice and its surroundings is an interesting habitat with occurrence of further rare and in Bohemia poorly known weevil species such as: Argoptochus quadrisignatus (Bach, 1856) [Tab. W72. 8], Brachysomus villosulus (Germar, 1824) [Tab. W72.9] and Zacladus exiguus (Olivier, 1807) [Tab. W72.10]. All of them have only a few localities in Bohemia.
New species for Bohemia.

Sibinia (Dichotychius) beckeri (Desbrochers, 1873) [Tab. W72.4]

Slovakia mer., Kamenín env., Kamenínske slanisko NPR [= National Nature Reserve] (8177)*: 27.9.2009, 1 ex., R. Škoda lgt. et coll., J. Krátký det.; 5. - 6.7.2010, 12 ex., M. Klekner et I. Navrátilová lgt., S. Benedikt det., coll. M. Klekner (2 exs. in coll. S. Benedikt); 29.7.2010, 4 males, 5 females, P. Průdek lgt. et coll., J. Krátký det.; 8.7.2011, 15 ex., M. Klekner et I. Navrátilová lgt., M. Klekner det. et coll.
The species is distributed from Italy to central Asia [Caldara 1979], but it is not present in all countries of its range. Northernmost findings reach Hortobágy National Park in northeastern Hungary [Caldara 1979]. Surprisingly, the species was found in southern Slovakia, several hundred kilometers away from the Hungarian locality. Even more surprising is that its host plant, Limonium gmelini hungaricum (Klokov) Soó [Tab. W72.6], grows only at one site in Slovakia. Therefore the record given here is an important evidence for the preservation of the salt marsh in Kamenín NPR [Tab. W72.5], which is the largest halophytic reservation in Slovakia. Limonium gmelini hungaricum was discovered as host plant of Sibinia beckeri also in Dobrogea in eastern Romania in September 2010 (J. Krátký & P. Kresl, pers. observ.), where the beetles were beaten from host plants at a habitat similar to that in Kamenín [Tab. W72.7]. Sibinia beckeri was already reported from Romania by [Caldara 1979], but without any biological notes. It is the first record of a host plant for Sibinia beckeri.
New species for Slovakia.
